We are a young, independent, non-profit school currently in our tenth year. We have grown to over 40 children in preschool through 8th grade. In addition to our rich academic program that is inspired by Waldorf principles, we offer a full spectrum of specialty classes that include Foreign Language, Art, Handwork, Movement, Violin and Singing. Our kindergarten is an associate member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN). Riverwood is approved as a private school by the Washington State Board of Education.

Foreign Language Specialty Teacher
The Riverwood Community School is seeking a Foreign Language Specialty Teacher for our Grades program. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic teacher who speaks a foreign language fluently to do traditional emersion learning. We are also looking for someone who will foster a relationship with students based upon warmth, concern, mutual respect, and shared enthusiasm for learning. Our ideal candidate is trained in Waldorf education, has an educational degree, and/or has experience working with children seven to fourteen years old. We spend a great deal of time outdoors, and the candidate must be comfortable in this setting. They should be committed to collegial work, self-development, and excellence in teaching

Internship Opportunity
Intern positions will assist the lead teacher in a mixed-age kindergarten class that is based outdoors, delivered with the Waldorf
education method. This is a great opportunity for young adults who have an interest in, or who would like to pursue a career in teaching or early childhood education. Interns will participate in daily routines, circle verses, snack times, and set up for rests under the direct supervision of the Early Childhood Program Director. They will also receive a minimum of 100 hours of volunteer experience, a referral for resumes or college admission, as well as an Internship Completion Award from Riverwood Community School. Interns will gain hands-on experience in the classroom as well as guided research in Waldorf education.
This intern opportunity is available for high school age students 16 years of age or above in the Stevens County area. Students' ages range from three to seven years old. The program is from August 25 - June 5th 2021-22, Tuesday – Friday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm, full or half-days available.
Fill out the online application form if you are interested. All interns will need to pass a background check as required by law. Applicants will be contacted within two weeks. There are up to three positions available depending on availability.
