Thank you for visiting Riverwood Community School!

The 2021-22 school year has once again been challenging.  With great insight into the needs of our families, Riverwood is accomplishing our goal of completing another successful year of joyful in-person schooling. We attribute this success to the flexibility of our staff and to our ability to utilize the outdoors as much as possible in our curriculum.  Students flourish in our rich, experiential learning environment and enjoy the comfort of experiencing the breathing through of each season. The children in our early childhood program are thriving in our almost 100% outdoor setting.  Our grades students receive the rigorous and engaging curriculum expected of an education inspired by Waldorf.  Their resiliency and achievements are supported by their healthy outlook on life and last year’s high annual test scores and marked improvement.  We anticipate similar results this year. We commend our teachers, staff, and families for going forth without fear and holding true to what the children need during this time of continued uncertainty.

“Receive the children in reverence, education them in love; let them go forth in freedom.” – Rudolf Steiner

Our curriculum, inspired by Waldorf, is richly artistic, creative and imaginative. Through developmentally and age appropriate methods in a spiritually enlivening environment, we strive to preserve the innocence of childhood and create active, lifelong learners who are morally responsible and who will positively shape the future. Please consider joining our community of teachers, families, students and friends.
